Integrity in action: Real honesty in the trades industry
Genuine conduct outweighs the promise of words.
Honest and Trustworthy.
These are words that have been thrown around for many years, and they especially run rampant in the trades industry. Everybody wants you to know that they can be trusted so they actively tell you that they are honest…trustworthy. It’s kind of like the phrase “to be honest…”, well what were you telling me before you said that?
I have had the luxury of being involved in thousands of buy/sell transactions. In those thousands of transactions, I have come in contact with a lot of people including buyers, sellers, contractors and inspectors.
Some have an unquestionable amount of integrity when carrying out their daily business.
Some have been on the fence depending on how it suits them.
And there are others who are just downright unscrupulous.
When you run a business, you have the option to choose which side of that fence you are going to be on.
It stands to reason that if you are honest and trustworthy, your reputation should stand alone and your actions will speak for themselves. What others say about your integrity should be all that matters. Not what you feel you have to say about yourself to get someone to listen to you…or “trust” you.
In other words, just be a good person and treat others the way you would like to be treated and the rest will take care of itself.
